Photography 1: Elmira college
I have always been extremely interested in photography because I enjoy taking and looking at photos in magazines, newspapers, and social media sites. However, after enrolling in Photography 1 at Elmira College, I learned that photography is much more than simply taking photos for Instagram. I learned to take photos with a 35mm film camera, which opened my eyes to the history of the entire field and how photos were taken before digital cameras and cell phones. The most interesting aspect of the course was to process the film in the darkroom and enlarge the images. Many of my film images were taken at Murray Athletic Center, where I spend a lot of time at college. When browsing the digital photos that I have taken (with either iPhone 6 or 10), I began to realize a common theme: food. It was humorous that from all of my experiences traveling the world thus far, a majority of my memories were captured through food. Although the Photography 1 course has come to an end, I hope to continue to explore photography and capture my life's memories through a lens.
